Who are we, and what is our project about?

Zink runs High Peak Foodbank at our headquarters in the centre of Buxton.

Families in hardship are referred in by support organisations – they might be homeless, fleeing domestic abuse, experiencing poor mental health…whatever it is, our foodbank will make sure they don’t go hungry. But we’ll do more than that. Our advice worker will support families to resolve the issues that cause crisis. Then our work coaches will help parents and adults to get jobs so they don’t get into crisis again. The family can eat at our community cafe and get involved in free activities at Zink so they feel connected to others, learn new skills and get more meaning out of life to feel more positive about the future.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The High Peak Community has always been very generous and supported Zink to develop services that prevent poverty and keep the need for High Peak Foodbank lower than most other places in the country. Crowdfunded donations help Zink to gain funds from large trusts. We reckon whatever the community gives can be multiplied five times this way.

Crowdfunding through Aviva match funding doubles that. That means that by donating £20, it would be worth £40 to Zink, £50 becomes £100 then Zink can apply to trust funds to help increase it to £200 and £500 respectively.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We’ll support families who use the foodbank to resolve the issues that cause them to need emergency food. This will mean they don’t need to use a foodbank again. And, our qualified energy assessor will support families to reduce energy costs so they don’t need to choose between eating and heating.

How you can help

There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:

1. Make a donation

Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.

2. Spread the word

Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.

3. Sign up to receive our newsletter, it comes out every couple of months: email paul@zink.org.uk

4. Follow Zink and High Peak Foodbank on Facebook and The Zink Project on LinkedIn.

Thank you for your support!
